DLOn-road prices for Delhi updated 2 Sept 2026
Changes road tax, registration and the on-road budget.
Rates effective 1 Jul 2026 · last updated 2 Sept 2026
Assumptions
- Rates are for a vehicle registered in an individual's name. A company-registered vehicle is taxed at a higher rate and is not modelled.
- CNG and strong/plug-in hybrid vehicles are taxed at the petrol rate. The Delhi schedule surcharges diesel only, and the 2026 EV policy gives hybrids no concession.
- The one-time MCD parking charge is included at Rs 2,000 at or below Rs 4 lakh ex-showroom and Rs 4,000 above it. No gazette or fee order for the tariff could be located - it is prescribed through a Union Urban Affairs Ministry notification rather than by the Delhi Transport Department, which collects it on the municipal corporations' behalf. The amount is therefore corroborated rather than cited: contemporary reporting names Rs 4,000 as the rate in force, and the 2026-09-02 pricing validation found Delhi dealer quotes for a Rs 6.59 lakh car charging exactly Rs 4,000 over our computed road tax. It is included because excluding it made Delhi - the default jurisdiction - understate every real quote by that amount. Replace this with the fee order if one is ever obtained.
- A battery electric vehicle priced above Rs 30 lakh gets no state exemption (EV Policy 2026 clause 4.7.3) and pays the ordinary rate for its price band, with no diesel surcharge. The central registration-fee exemption for battery-operated vehicles is a separate instrument and still applies.

- Delhi Transport Department citizen charter (smart card and postal charges)
- MCD one-time parking charge tariff — no fee order located; prescribed via a Union Urban Affairs Ministry notification, collected by the Delhi Transport Department for the municipal corporations
- Business Standard, 22 Dec 2018, and Outlook India — both name Rs 4,000 as the existing one-time parking charge for a private car; the proposed Rs 6,000-75,000 revision and the earlier 2019 revision were not brought into force
